George Langman Sanctuary Reopens After Storm Cleanup Effort
We’re incredibly proud to share that the George Langman Sanctuary has officially reopened following the devastating April Ice Storm, which caused widespread damage to our trails, trees, and bird habitats.
The recovery was no small feat — and it wouldn’t have been possible without the dedicated volunteers from the Orillia Fish & Game Conservation Club. These passionate individuals spent countless hours, multiple days a week, clearing debris, restoring trails, repairing signage, and ensuring the area is safe and welcoming once again. Their commitment to conservation and our local green spaces is nothing short of inspiring.
To every club member who helped — thank you. This sanctuary stands as a testament to your hard work and love for the outdoors.
And now, we invite the public to come and enjoy everything the sanctuary has to offer. The George Langman Sanctuary is a peaceful, accessible space for walking, birdwatching, nature photography, or simply spending quiet time in nature. Located right in Orillia, it’s home to a wide variety of birds, mammals, and native plant life.
There’s no better time to visit — we’re in the heart of spring bird migration, meaning you’ll have a chance to see rare species, colourful songbirds, and seasonal favourites all in one place.
Bring your binoculars, a camera, or just your curiosity — and come reconnect with nature. We’re so glad to have you back.
