New Additions to Discover: Meet the Pollinators Along the Yellow Trail
The George Langmann Wildlife Sanctuary continues to grow — quite literally. One of the most vibrant additions is the new Pollination Garden, located along the Yellow Trail.
This beautiful, native wildflower garden began taking shape in late 2022, and has been blooming bigger and better each year through 2023 and 2024. It’s designed not only to add colour and biodiversity to the sanctuary, but also to support local pollinators like butterflies, bees, and other beneficial insects.
Every plant in the garden is a native species, many of which can also be spotted growing naturally along the trails throughout the sanctuary. Informational signs featuring photos and descriptions help visitors identify the wildflowers and learn more about the critical role of pollinators in our ecosystem.
Benches placed nearby offer a chance to pause, rest, and quietly watch the bees and butterflies at work.
🌼 Flowering Season:
Blooms begin in late May and continue through September, offering colour and activity all summer long.
This ongoing project has been made possible by the generous support of:
The Orillia Fish and Game Conservation Club thanks all our partners for helping bring this important initiative to life — and we invite everyone to come, walk the Yellow Trail, and meet the pollinators.
