Kid’s Conservation Day

2023 Kid's Conservation Day!

Members of The Orillia Fish and Game Conservation Club are very excited to present “Kids Conservation Day”. Our members understand that the youth of today are the future for tomorrow. It is our members’ wish to pass on the love of nature and the great outdoors to the next generation. As our name indicates, we believe strongly in the conservation of nature and in our hunting and fishing heritage. Whether children are interested in canoeing, hiking, fishing, hunting or just relaxing and taking in nature, our goal is to get our kids outside enjoying the great outdoors. It is our members desire and duty to pass our knowledge and experience on to the next generation so that they may also enjoy the many natural wonders our country has to offer.

Once again this year, The Orillia Fish and Game Conservation Club is proud to host our annual Kid’s Conservation Day, which will take place at the Club’s ‘Tree Farm’ property located on Bass Lake Side Rd. just West of the 9th Line (see the “contact us” section of the website for the exact location). This year’s event will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 for kids between the ages of 7-14 years. We welcome all kids in that age group who want to participate. We are presently in preparation of this year's event.

Registration begins at 09:00 am and will be followed by a “Birds of Prey” demonstration. The demonstration will be educational and informative and will give the kids an insight as to how the birds survive in to-days environment. The birds will be put through their paces by their handler with lots of inter-action with the kids.

The remainder of the events are “hands on” with an instructor for each event, therefore registration is limited to the first 80 kids. The event is free of charge for all of the participants, however, a parent or guardian must be present to register their children in order for them to participate. In addition to the Birds of Prey demonstration, the agenda for the day includes fishing, air rifle target shooting, archery, nature hikes, and an arts & craft workshop . The kids will be given professional instruction in each event. The day conclude with a great lunch of hot dogs and snacks with water, milk or soft drinks for the kids and their parents/ guardians.

This will be a fun event for all those who participate. If you think that your kids might enjoy this type of activity, we welcome you to join us. This is a great opportunity for kids to enjoy the great outdoors and have fun with their friends performing the various outdoor activities.

We hope to see you there!
